Joselito Alvarez IV

Jose Alvarez Cruze IV
Joselito is a very busy, active and happy 4 years old. He spends his days that mommy and daddy are at school and work with Pop and Aunt Laurie. He is very smart and will be starting per K in the fall. I feel he has a good foundation to go in with. Joselito has been showing a lot of interest in soccer lately so we have to decide to enroll him in soccer for the summer league. He will be playing outdoors and is so excited. Joselito has his dog Zoe and she is his pal he loves her so much.
I will try to do a better job about keeping our friends and family update on the exciting life of Joselito!

Mary & Jose

Jose and I are doing well. I am currently a student at Clark College in Vancouver. I am at the end of my degree and will be graduating this spring. I am hoping to find a job and get Jose back into school. Jose is working for NW Laminating. Jose has been with the company for almost 7 years and plans to continue working there and return to school. It will be difficult but I think he will be able to do it! With graduation right around the corner for me and Jose walking up to a full plate there will plenty of changes and I will try to do a better job of keeping all of our loved ones updated.
Jake and I are happy and doing well. Despite the looks of this picture, Jake is neither fat nor pregnant. The lack of distinction between our two black shirts has made for a fun and funny visual effect.

Jake is attending classes at WSU Vancouver and working toward a biology degree. Soon hopefully he will be finding a summer internship to get his foot in the door with the Forest Service for once he is graduated. In his free time from working and going to school, Jake has been lifting weights with his dad to prep for climbing season and we try to get in a few runs a week. Tho due to my yo-yoing health he makes it out more than I do. Not gonna lie, he also gets in a few hours of Modern Warfare each week too.

I have been out of the hospital since Aug. 09 and recovery from last years medical lows has been long and slow. I still have my ups and downs from chemo and cancer but over all I find myself thankful for many things this year. As I said before I have been running here and there... it hurts at first but once I warm-up I feel good, like a runner again. Hopefully soon my body will be in running mode enough that a short run doesn't irritate my lungs to the point of feelikng like I am going to cough up tumors. I spend a lot of time reading and working on puzzles, like crosswords and sudoku. I have also started journaling a bit to try and wrap my head around life... we'll see how that goes. I recently started a new chemo, it is rough for the nausea but not bad otherwise. Hopefully it will go well, we'll keep you updated.

Susan & Henning

Henning and I are doing great. The weather here is finally starting to get a little nicer so we've been spending a lot of time outside biking, grilling, enjoying the sunshine. I just got a new bike. I'm starting to learn the city from above ground (instead of the subway). I never realized how much greenspace Hamburg has. We have several parks a short bike-ride away. We also have a big lake in the middle of the city that we like to jog around or take our bikes and have a picnic. Right now all the sailboats are out. It's really gorgeous.

Henning is in the midst of looking for a new, better-paying job. It's slow going though. After work he has so little time to work on doing research and sending out his resumé. We've had a few promising emails this week, so we'll see if something pans out. I just finished getting all my resumè stuff together and translating it into German. I sent out one application for an internship, but probably won't hear anything for a while. I will send out a few more next week, but in the meantime I'm just working on improving my german. Next week I'm starting a course to refresh my Italian too. Hopefully it will improve my job prospects.

Otherwise we don't have too much going on...same old stuff, different country. We'll begin planning our wedding soon, which is pretty exciting. I'll try to be better about keeping everyone posted on the details.
